Rainforest ingredients:

Organic Acai Oil:

Açaí is a palm tree found in various locations of the Amazon region. The oil, extracted from the pulp of the fruit, is rich in essential fatty acids (Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9), phytosterols, Viamin C and Polyphenols (strong anti-oxidants). It has calming, protecting and revitalizing qualities.

Organic Murumuru Butter:

The Murumuru is a type of palm tree which grows up to 6 meters tall . It usually grows on clayey soils in the native Amazonian forests. Murumuru butter is rich in oleic acid which provides nutrition, emollience and hydration to the skin.

Amazonian White Clay:

This natural clay is energized, activated, and dried under the sun in order to avoid decomposition by the excessive heat.

The Brazilian Indians used clays for treating skin lesions and for protection against insect and snake bites (geotherapy). The clay is especially rich in Amazonian organic

matter absorbed from the forest plants. This organic matter includes nutrients and anti-oxidants and minerals (iron, aluminum, potassium, calcium, boron, sulphur).

It has a skin cleansing and purifying action.

Its use neither depletes resources nor causes damage to the environment.

OTHER ORGANIC OILS AND BUTTERS::

Organic Jojoba Oil:

Jojoba oil comes from a desert plant that has its own built-in survival mechanism against heat and drought. As early as the 18th century, Indians in Baja California were aware of its special properties and used its oil for a range of cosmetics and medical applications such as treating skin cancer and wounds.

Jojoba oil is the liquid wax produced in the seed of the Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) plant, a shrub native to southern Arizona, southern California and northwestern Mexico. Jojoba oil makes up approximately 50% of the jojoba seed by weight and contains the beneficial omega-9 fatty acids. Unrefined jojoba oil appears as a clear golden liquid at room temperature with a slightly fatty odor. Jojoba oil is relatively stable compared to other vegetable oils.

Unlike common vegetable oils, jojoba oil is chemically very similar to human sebum.

Jojoba oil is moisturizing, healing, nourishing and beneficial for all skin types. It is rich in Vitamin E and minerals and is suitable for inflamed skin.

Organic Macadamia Nut Oil:

Macadamia oil (or Macadamia nut oil) is the oil derived from the nut of the macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia) tree. Macadamia oil contains oleic acid, palmitoleic acid, Linoleic acid (omega-6) and Linolenic acid (omega-3).

Thanks to its content of palmitoleic acid, macadamia oil is an excellent botanical substitute for mink oil when used in cosmetic formulations as an emollient, imparting a silky rich feel to the skin.

Organic Passion Fruit Oil:

Passion Fruit seed oil is extracted from the kernels of the passion fruit and is traditionally used to care for, calm, soothe and moisturize the skin. This emollient oil is rich in linoleic acid (omega-6 essential fatty acid) which aids the skin's barrier function and soothes irritated skin. Its high content of flavonoids acts as a free radical scavenger and antioxidant, helping reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles and lines. It is a light oil which does not impart a greasy feel.

Organic Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil, extracted from copra (the dried inner flesh of coconuts), is a tropical oil with many applications. It has a long shelf life compared to other oils, lasting up to two years due to its high saturated fat content and is excellent as a skin moisturizer.

In India and Sri Lanka, coconut oil is commonly used for styling hair as well as for cooling or soothing the head (stress relief). People of coastal districts of Karnataka and Kerala bathe in warm water after having applied coconut oil all over the body and leaving it for an hour.

Organic Shea Butter:

Shea nut butter is a slightly greenish or ivory-colored natural fat extracted from the kernel of the karite tree (Butyrospermum Parkii), which is located throughout African savannahs. Shea butter is known especially for its cosmetic properties as a moisturizer and emollient and is also used as an anti-inflammatory agent. Due to the content of phytosterols and tocopherols (vitamin E) it can be effective at treating burns, rashes, blemishes, severely dry skin, chapped lips, stretch marks and wrinkles.

Shea butter provides some natural UV sun protection thanks to the presence of cinnamic acid esters. However one should not rely soley on shea butter for sun protection. Shea butter is richer than many other emollients and is rapidly absorbed into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling.

Shea butter is also edible and is used as cooking oil in West Africa.

Organic Cocoa Butter:

Cocoa butter is the edible natural fat of the cacao bean, extracted during the process of making chocolate and cocoa powder and indeed has a chocolate aroma.

Cocoa butter has a melting point in the range of the temperature of the human body and thus melts immediately when applied to the skin. Cocoa butter is one of the most stable fats known, containing natural antioxidants that prevent rancidity. The smooth texture and emollient property of cocoa butter make it a popular ingredient in cosmetics and skin care products.

Organic Essential Oils:

Organic Spearmint Oil:

Spearmint grows well in nearly all climates. Unlike peppermint, spearmint does not contain high amounts of menthol. A major component of the oil is R-Carvone. The ancient Greeks used Spearmint to scent their bath water and it had a reputation for curing diseases. During medieval times it was used to heal sore gums and also to whiten teeth. Spearmint oil is antiseptic, antispasmodic, and a stimulant.

Organic Lemongrass Oil:

Lemongrass is a tall grass grown in warm, temperate and tropical regions. The essential oil is an amber-yellow liquid extracted from the fresh or partially dried, finally chopped leaves (grass) and has a fresh gassy-lemony scent.

The main constituent of lemongrass oil is citral. Lemongrass has an antifungal and antiseptic effect, but it is also widely used as an herb in Asian cooking.

SPECIAL ACTIVE INGREDIENTS:

Organic Alpine Herbs Extract:

This unique combination of organic Alpine herbs is an innovative plant-based approach to combating skin aging, based on traditional medicine.

The synergistic combination of Butterfly bush (Buddleja davidii) and Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) has demonstrated outstanding performance in the ozone-protection test.

Ozone ( O3), is a powerful oxidizing agent which attacks biomolecules of our skin (lipids, collagen, DNA) and causse premature skin aging.

Cosmetic products that contain substances with protective properties against ozone help in preventing loss of elasticity and loss of skin vitality and in delaying wrinkles.

Organic Beech Tree Extract:

The Beech tree (Fagus sylvatica L.) may reach a height of approximately 130 feet. This tree matures after 60 years, and often lives to be 200-250 years old, which is why it is often called “the everlasting youth tree”.

The Beech tree bud: Gemmotherapy is a medical science that originated in the sixties. The name is derived from the Latin word gemma (meaning bud, pearl) and is

based on taking advantage of the high-potential actives in the buds. These are the embryos of plant life, and contain high-energy actives: numerous hormones, flavonoids and peptides, such as phytostimulines, which stimulate cellular metabolism, resulting in the transformation from dormant stage to bloom.

The buds are gathered in a wild, semi-mountainous region, far from urban and industrial areas with their typical pollution, and also far from cultured gardens, fruit and grain areas

which are home to pesticides and weed killers.

Harvesting takes place at a precise stage of the development of the tree during a very short period, one or two weeks, when the tissues are particularly rich in phytostimulines.

The buds are gathered from the lower branches, in order not to interfere with tree

growth: the natural balance is thus fully respected.

This special Beech tree bud extract has been proven by in-vitro and in-vivo tests to increase cellular oxygen uptake, boost protein synthesis by keratinocytes, improve skin moisture levels and reduce wrinkle depth.

Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline:

an innovative natural amino acid derivative that exerts a triple firming action on the skin – moisturizing, rejuvenation and wrinkle minimizing.

In-vitro studies have demonstrated that this compound stimulates collagen remodeling and construction. It protects the elastic fibers against enzymatic degradation and against the harmful activity of free radicals.

Clinical studies have shown a significant reduction in wrinkle depth and density following one month's use of a cream containing 1% dipalmitoyl hydroxyprolne.

Hyaluronane:

Hyaluronane or Hyaluronic acid is a linear biopolymer, member of the class of amino-sugar containing polysaccharides, known as glycosaminoglycans. Hyaluronic acid is the main component of diverse tissues and body fluids, half of which is in the dermal layer.

Hyaluronic acid plays a major role in many cellular processes: immune cells activation, cell protection, cell migration, cell proliferation, and cell differentiation.

Hyaluronic acid has the ability to hold water more than most of the natural or synthetic polymers. Thus, one of the most important functions of hyaluronic acid is to retain water in the extracellular matrix of the skin and to provide vital hydration. This polymeric network holds water like a molecular sponge.

The ageing of human skin, particularly after 50, is accompanied by a change of its macromolecular components that results in dramatic changes in the texture of the intercellular matrix of the skin. The hyaluronic acid of the skin changes and its ability to bind water decreases progressively.

High molecular weight hyaluronic acid solutions form non-occlusive hydrated elastic films when applied to the skin surface. Those films hold water in the same way that hyaluronic acid holds water in the intercellular matrix of dermal connective tissues. They also protect the skin against outer aggressions that could damage the skin barrier. Thus hyaluronic acid is a powerful moisturizer.

Hyaluronic acid is completely biocompatible, and is a suitable ingredient for sensitive skin care products.

At Dr. Kadir laboratories we use a very pure hyaluronic acid obtained by fermentation of non GMO lactic bacteria on plant substrates.

Lactic Acid (naturally obtained):

Lactic acid was isolated from sour milk about 200 years ago. It is present in various organs of our body (the human body synthesizes about 120g. a day).

In many clinical tests it has been demonstrated that lactates are very efficient humectants (skin moisturizers) imparting softness and a silky feel to the skin. Furthermore, it has been shown that the effect of lactates is not superficial: lactic acid and its salts penetrate the skin, meaning that its effects last for several days after topical application. At Dr. Kadir laboratories we use natural lactic acid obtained by sugar fermentation.

Squalane (from olive oil):

Squalane (perhydrosqualene) is a natural high-quality emollient. This clear fluid oil has a natural affinity to the skin, being one of the main components of the human sebum and hydrolipidic film.

Squalane prevents moisture loss and restores the skin's suppleness and flexibility.

Its soft, silky, non greasy touch, its total stability and safety all make it a valuable ingredient for high quality cosmetic emulsions. At Dr. Kadir laboratories we use squalane from vegetable (olive oil) origin.

Organic Sugar Cane:

Sucrose obtained from sugar cane is a disaccharide composed of glucose and fructose. It is a non-reducing sugar, which makes it more stable and a better ingredient for cosmetic preparations.

For thousands of years, sucrose has been used to help heal wounds. In recent years it was found that sucrose also helps reduce scarring by changing the pattern of collagen metabolism in scar tissue.

Sucrose is also a safe and effective natural moisturizer and humectant.

Dead Sea Minerals:

A considerable body of scientific research and publications support the fact that Dead Sea constituents are beneficial to various dermal conditions and skin lesions.

Magnesium salts, the prevalent minerals in Dead Sea water, are known to bring about favorable effects in inflammatory diseases. Magnesium salts bind water, influence epidermal proliferation and differentiation, and enhance skin barrier repair. It has been demonstrated that bathing in Dead Sea salt solution improved skin barrier function, enhanced hydration of the skin's outermost layer, and reduced skin roughness and inflammation.
